"Gosnold has saved my life. I'm very grateful to be here."
Prior to moving in to Gosnold Apartments in 2008, Ted slept in a tent for more than a year and suffered constant pain due to a back injury he received while working in 2001. With the help of the support services staff at Gosnold, Ted has applied for Social Security Disability Income, Food Stamps, and Medicaid.

Virginia Individual Development Account (VIDA)

Yes, you can save. VIDA is a special matched savings program that enables individuals and families with children to save for homeownership, business or education.

Savers receive one-on-one credit and debt management counseling and attend financial literacy and asset specific training workshops (homeownership, business development or career planning).

Participation in VIDA ranges from 6 to 24 months depending on individual need. Savers must be able to contribute at least $25 per month into an account held at Wachovia or BB&T. Savers are also encouraged to use their tax refund or Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to grow savings faster.

For every $1 contributed by the saver it will be matched with $2. The maximum contribution by a saver is $2,000 which will be matched with $4,000 totaling $6,000 to be used towards the chosen asset.
