Contributions and Tax Credits

VSH must raise approximately $500,000 annually or 25% of its annual operating budget.

Contributions from individuals and corporations are eligible for state tax credits through the Neighborhood Assistance Program. This program works to increase the value of your donation to the agency while lowering donors' state tax liability. Contact our Development Director, Heather Orrock at 804.788.6825 ext. 207 for more information on the tax credit program.

  • Individuals - individuals or married couples must donate a minimum of $500, or no more than $125,000. The NAP credit is valued at 40% of the donation, up to a maximum $50,000 tax credit per taxable year and only to the extent that the donor has not claimed a deduction for the donated amount on their federal income tax return.
  • Corporations - may receive a state tax credit for 40% of their total contribution with a minimum contribution of $1,000.

Faith Communities - include VSH in their missions and benevolence budgets each year to help sustain our programs. Call 804.788.6825 to schedule a presentation by a VSH staff member for your committee.

Matching Gifts - are often provided by your employer. Ask to have VSH included in your company's matching gift program.
