Supportive Housing for Persons With Disabilities
Virginia Supportive Housing has developed Cary Street dFIND (Disabled Families in
Neighborhoods Developing), the organization's first apartment homes for families with a disabled
family member. The two historic apartment buildings are located at 2023 and 2123 West Cary Street
in Richmond. One of the first floor apartments is fully accessible.
VSH has partnered with HIGH Hopes to develop supportive housing for persons with
traumatic brain or spinal cord injury- Independence House. VSH and HIGH Hopes received a HUD Section
811 award in 2002 to develop Independence House, a group home for six persons with Traumatic Brain
Injury (TBI) or Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Independence House is located at 1725 National Street.
Construction was completed in September 2005. Prospective residents can download a copy of the
application form.

- 1517 Jefferson Davis Highway and 1301 Blakemore Road
- Fourteen (14) affordable, accessible apartments for persons with disabilities
VSH is actively seeking sites to provide supportive housing for homeless disabled veterans.
